Trio
Pastel, 48 x 61 cm (jpg 36k)
This painting started out as a failure. At one point I was so frustrated with it that I set it aside for two years. One day I put it back on the easel and finished it in an hour. It seemed to paint itself. Later it won an award in a national juried exhibit of the Pastel Society of North Florida. See The Artist's Magazine, June, 1995, pg 56-61.

Jackson Square
Pastel, 48 x 61 cm. (jpg 23k)
Jackson Square in New Orleans is a great place to 'people watch.' This pastel has been in four national juried exhibits - (two in New York City). See The Artist's Magazine, June, 1995, pg 56-61.

Bay Dune
Pastel, 51 x 76 cm.
A view of Choctawhatchee Bay in northwest Florida. This scene is no more. It was forever altered by hurricane Opal.
The painting was in two national juried exhibits, winning an award in each:
- The Salmagundi Club 16th Annual Open Exhibition in New York City.
- The Pastel Society of North Florida 2nd Biennial in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

Wings
Pastel, 21 x 14 in.
Wings is derived from a composit of three photos. I used negative spaces interlocking with the positive in the design of this composition. Thumbnail pencil sketches were helpful in this process.
